A Cottage Holiday in the Yorkshire Dales

Few places in the UK offer better than a cottage holiday in the Yorkshire Dales. The incredibly diverse environments across the Yorkshire Dales never ceases to amaze me, even after living here for nearly 30 years. Almost any decent car journey through the Dales will take you from the remote high fells, with windswept moors and rocky profile to the lush and rolling valleys below and it takes my breath away every time. The market towns and larger villages have a homely and welcoming feel and many of the facilities you would find in a modern metropolitan centre, and yet just a few miles down the road you can find yourself in a hideaway village and feel a million miles away from civilisation in your own piece of Yorkshire countryside. The variety of holiday cottages you can stay in is also hugely diverse and offers everything from cosy cottages in the Dales villages to large and luxurious properties for group or family holidays, often with superb facilities such as games rooms or even swimming pools. The standard of cottage holidays in the Yorkshire dales is also high, with the market being pretty competitive most owners make great effort that prospective visitors have the welcome and facilities they need. The town of Skipton, "The Gateway to the Dales " can provide an excellent base for exploring the area and although a larger centre is a popular tourist draw with the regular market (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) and Castle. The museum based in the town hall is also well worth a look and often overlooked by visitors due to the crafts market often held in the hall. Cottage holidays tend to be based in the villages outside of the town which give the best of both worlds being close to amenities and attractions and also getting away from it all in an idyllic dales village. These offer easy access to the variety of walking and climbing in the area and offer a good proximity to the more accessible southern dales. In the area there are a number of farm shops and markets with fresh local produce and you can easily find everything you need to cook back at your cottage. For those not wanting to toil over a hot stove whilst on holiday there are a wide range of restaurants in the area from award winning Michelin starred establishments to the plain mediocre, but most pubs tend to offer decent fare at reasonable prices, and many offer early bird or other deals especially out of peak season. Here are plenty of Yorkshire Dales cottage holiday suppliers around and deals are to be had, although it is advised to book early especially if searching for larger or more particular cottages. If you do find your ideal place then you are unlikely to be disappointed with a holiday cottage in the Yorkshire Dales [http://www.yorkshiredalesreport.co.uk/accommodation].
